Bored people across the pond are reading my blog

mapHaving a blog is pretty fun. I’ve only done it the last few months, and I figured I probably had about 10 readers, most of whom are family members. I mean, who gives a tater tot what I think, you know? But the beauty of an Internet blog is that you are potentially able to reach bored people all over the world.

This week, I signed up for Google Analytics, a blog statistics program, to see if it could tell me anything interesting about who was reading my blog, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that bored people in several countries have stumbled across it.

Apparently most people who have checked out my blog are from the United States, but at least two people in Xian and Chengdu, China, were bored enough to read it.

At least three people in the United Kingdom have been bored enough to read my blog. Google tells me they are in Manchester, Waterford and Ripe. (Hi there!)

My blog is also being read by at least two bored people in South America. One is in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and the other is in Lima, Peru. Hola!

And there is at least one North Shore, New Zealand, resident bored enough to read my blog. (Hi mate!)

map2In the United States, the largest number of bored people reading my blog are in Houston, Texas, which is interesting to me, because I don’t think I know anyone from Houston. The second highest readership comes from Jackson, Miss., where I’m based, and Blue Springs, Miss., which is near my hometown.

There is at least one bored New Yorker reading my blog on occasion, and at least two bored people from Lafayette, La. I’m pretty sure one of those is my friend, Ginger, who likely told someone she works with to read my blog. That would explain the other Lafayette person.

Most of my blog readership appears to be occurring on the eastern side of the United States. This could possibly mean that people in the east are more bored than people in the west, but I’ll leave the analytics up to Google.

To anyone who is reading my blog from the previously mentioned areas, and especially to those in Houston, Texas, thanks for checking it out, and feel free to make a comment from time to time, if you like. I promise I’ll try to respond in a non-boring sort of way.
